Individual Supports
Increasing Skills to Increase Independence
Individual Supports is a person centered program whose focus is to improve skills that will enhance a Member’s life either in their home or in the community. Members work one to one with staff on skills that will increase the Members independence. The supports are tailored to each Member’s individual needs or in areas of personal growth. The goal of the service is for the Member to increase independence at the skill being worked on. Much of these services are worked on after a person has either come home from work, or their Day Habilitation program. For most individuals provided this service, they are provided supports weekly with an Individual Supports Specialist anywhere from two hours to eight hours per week. Some examples of Individual Supports include:
- Shopping Skills
- Cooking Skills
- Budgeting/Bill Paying Skills
- Understanding Public Transportation
- Finding/Accessing Community Resources
- Community Membership
- Housekeeping skills
